the short odyssee of don raffa, the patron of the passaporto verhuenert

I am gonna be working in Berlin this week but am having difficulties in getting there. I cannot find my passport anymore and have no idea whatsoever where it could be. The last time I have used it for sure has been last Tuesday when I came back from Nuremberg. Why am I not just using my Swiss ID card? well I’ve got one in my wallet but cannot really use it as I had lost my wallet back in February in Berlin and had therefore reported my ID card stolen. A month later the wallet was found and I got it back with everything in it. But the law is strict on this, you are not allowed to use an ID card that has been reported stolen, as the police might think that you are the thief.

I went to the office at 11pm today because I was hoping to find my passport there but I couldn’t find it there either. Back home with the last tram and bus it was. It is nowhere. The plan is still to try and get on the plane using my ID card and some story why I am using the ID card, but I don’t know whether they’ll let me do that. If not I could either try to get an emergency passport (expensive and not sure you can get one for travelling out of Switzerland) or else I’ll just take the train to Berlin. It is only about 8 hours 30 minutes with changing carriage once in Hannover. All that for EUR 138.- I had always wanted to ride through Germany on a train, being able to take in the landscape. And I’ll be able to work too.

Monday evening will see me in Berlin, that’s for sure. 4 days of work followed by the arrival of my gf and 3.5 days of leisure and the “Karneval der Kulturen” in Kreuzberg. It’ll be good!
