Isle of Arran

Arran: It’s oh so beautiful. Was raining when I arrived. then put tent up in light rain. Decided to go for long hill climb today. Almost 12 miles or so. 4 peaks. Left at 6.45. Was soon in the fog and clouds and trying not to get too wet in the bog. Impossible and after less then an hour my feet/ shoe were fully soaked with water.

And had difficulties to find the path as couldn’t see any mountains and about 20-50 meters only. Had a good map and was very glad. Was alone till 12 o’clock when I met two retired teachers from Kilmarnock. Chatting with them. Was funny. And while I was there the clouds magically disappeared and for the first time I could see all the montains I had been climbing in the morning and could see the valleys and the sea. Went up to Goatfell from there and again. Sunshine and could see all the scottish islands and Ireland as well. Fantastic. Was worth every minute of my trip. Back at 3 o’clock. Means was walking for 8 hours. Cool.

Will stay another night at the same place near Brodick and tomorrow cycle around the island. 57 miles. Then camp again. and on Sat have an easy day, go to brodick sightseeing or so and back home.

Am in coop in Brodick right now. They do internet for 1 pound an hour ;-)
